Hailing from the mid-sized, semi-urbanized community of Elgin , Illinois, roughly an hour due Northwest of Chicago, The BROKEDOWNS are an essential milestone for the contemporary punk purist. Forty years after the genre's inception, while countless individuals, crews, and pseudo-bands, are reveling in outdated retrogressive fashions, sounds, and cries of unconvincing angst, these four lads hold it down proper: genuine, aggro, and gritty, with a solid sense of humor to boot. Loosely founded around fast, overdriven, gravely, pop-inclined fist pumping anthems, The BROKEDOWNS play off of a format that when done right (a rarity that they enable us to celebrate) is irresistible.

PUNK/HARDCORE. The BROKEDOWNS are a humble and oft-dormant quartet from right outside Chicago that somehow stole the punk rock spotlight in the last year (and that's where opportunist jackoffs like us come in, wink wink). They toured with Dillinger Four, landed on the cover of Razorcake Magazine, and released a killer 7" on No Idea Records. Their new 13-song full length, "Species bender", is proof of all the great progress they've made as a band and will firmly plant 'em alongside the genre's best. We're talking about a truly rockin' record, and The BROKEDOWNS are one of the few bands still playing traditional punk rock and playing it well. On top of all that, they package it with hilarious, biting lyrics: songs that reference the Octo-Mom, wizards, Jersey Shore, Kid Rock, etc. That's what I call a good time! NOISE-ROCK. Releasedate 17.09.2010. A collaboration between Japanese Doom/Sludge Rock trio BORIS and British vocalist IAN ASTBURY, frontman for Alt-Rock band The CULT. Astbury's iconic Rock vocals are a perfect match for Boris' straightforward and laid back but still raw and imaginative songwriting.

HARDCORE. Available ca. 03.09.2010. Legions of Hardcore diehards would argue that C.I.A.’s "God guns guts" EP is one of the best US Hardcore singles to ever be released. Originally self-released in 1983, the 6 songs on the original 7” are absolutely flawless blasts of driving, intelligent, and furious hardcore. What could be better than this? A deluxe reissue that adds 5 original 7” session outtakes that have never been heard until now along with several other previously unreleased essential demos recorded just before the 7” came out. This all comes housed in a high-quality package featuring a UV laminated jacket, printed inner sleeve that features detailed liner notes and unpublished photos.

HARDCORE. Available ca. 10.09.2010. After two years of touring the world, CARPATHIAN have returned with their most soulful and pensive effort to date, the "Wanderlust" EP. From the first ringing notes, it's apparent that CARPATHIANhave grown into a darker and more reflective band since the release of "Isolation". Crushing opener "Wanderlust" clutches a potent musical weight and grit that is a true progression CARPATHIAN. While "Iron heart" screams with emotion, ultimately becoming blatantly heavy without being remotely predictable. The nearly epic "Monochrome" shows why less can be more in contemporary heavy music. With CARPATHIAN allowing their newly discovered discordant guitar work swell and build throughout this memorable melancholy anthem. Altogether "Wanderlust" is a special effort. Not an EP placeholder between albums, but the sound of a band searching for their own unique collective voice. Within that, CARPATHIAN, whether conscious of it or not, are becoming something truly special in the process.

METALCORE. ''Coming Alive'' is a CD+2xDVD release from Metal monsters CHIMAIRA that features a 17-track audio disc of the band performing live at Christmas 10, a 3+ hour documentary filmed in HD and a second DVD with the full video of the Christmas 10 concert plus plenty of bonus footage.

.HARDCORE. Vinyl postponed to 07.09.2010. COMEBACK KID is a band built on pushing the limits. "Symptoms + Cures" is the profound next step forward in their ever-evolving, always progressing, and already inspiring career. In a modern day world filled with constant turmoil, there are people who leech off the victimized for their own benefit. There are also those who follow blindly and jump headfirst into seemingly good circumstances, only to later become conscious of the sticky situations they have found themselves in. "Symptoms + Cures" offers an eye-opening account of self-exploration, nomadic struggles, and a reflection of a pressure-filled transient life that will serve as a worldwide wake up call.

HARDCORE. Hailing from Wilkes-Barre, PA, DEAD END PATH bring a heavy Hardcore sound with plenty of negativity that musically brings to mind HATEBREED and BURIED ALIVE. The 7" includes digital download.

POST-PUNK. Available 10.09.2010. Baltimore, MD's DEAD MECHANICAL return to Toxic Pop Records with their 2nd long player. "Addict rhythms" is a collection of 12 catchy, melodic punk tunes centered around the city they call home. Lucas's songs continue to critique the world outside his apartment (and sometimes rather unnervingly inside) with his Blake Schwarzenbach styled raspy croon, while Matt's songs take on a more ethereal tone full of playful hooks a la SUPERCHUNK, but the trio comes together in their songwriting to add their own touch to keep the songs distinctly their own.

HARDCORE-PUNK. The crushing second album from this Finnish group, whose members you
might know previously from ENDSTAND, MANIFESTO JUKEBOX etc. This is raging and dark atmospheric Hardcore-Punk, think along the lines of KYLESA, CURSED and so on!

PUNK. The pioneers of D-Beat Hardcore with two new tracks that remind heavily of the ''Hear nothing, see nothing, say nothing'' era again. Powerfully production and rough sound.

CRUST-HARDCORE. Here is the "God has no mercy" debut 7inch by Midwestern Crust outfit with members Wartorn, Despite, Words That Burn, Flags Will Cover The Coffins, and Remission with a sound and riffs that range from the Swedish Hardcore reminiscent of Wartorn and State of Fear to the slow and melodic, to chug filled brutality along the lines of Stormcrow and Hellshock. Drums vary from breakneck D-Beat to tribal, which are coupled with the screamed lead vocals and guttural backgrounds that put the finishing touch on this crushing ensemble. The 7inch is limited to 300 copies, hand numbered and on blue vinyl.

INDIE/PUNK. This volume of the "Under the influence" 7" series features Florida's FALLEN FROM THE SKY doing a rendition of FOO FIGHTERS' "This Is A Call" and The WONDER YEARS doing a version of a LIT song.

HARDCORE. FIRE & ICE present their second 7" that picks up right where they left off from their debut, with heavy. metallic and grooving early-'90s NYC Hardcore that brings to mind LEEWAY and later CRO-MAGS. The 7" includes digital download.

INDIE-ROCK. Boston, MA's THE FIRST ANNUAL mark a bit of a departure from the hard side for Triple-B by playing melodic Rock 'n' Roll that takes influence from RYAN ADAMS, SPRINGSTEEN and JIMMY EAT WORLD.

NOISE-PUNK. GRIDS from North Carolina play ultra-distorted, grimy, feedback-drenched Noise-Punk with crushing repetitive precision. DEATH METAL. From the Death Metal hotbed of Tampa, FL, INFERNAEON present their first full-length since 2007, which blends Floridian Death Metal and symphonic European Black Metal. The band has toured with Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Deeds Of Flesh, Vile and Impaled.
